Bus trip

The bus trip will take visitors to the region of delicious wine, well-known as a "Little Carpathian wine road", the most popular in Slovakia, to the towns of Pezinok, Modra and Trnava. Archeological findings testify that beginnings of viniculture in this area go back to the 7th century BC when wine was grown on Carpathian slopes by Celts, later followed by Romans.

In Pezinok (www.pezinok.sk) we go to see the Museum of Viniculture, which enables visitors to get familiar with the life of vintners. Those concerned will have a possibility to taste a glass of local wine. High quality wines with attractive odor cultivated in Pezinok and Modra region are e.g. Rizling rynsky, Veltlinske zelene (Green Veltlin), Muller Thurgau, Silvanske zelene (Green Silvan), Rulandske biele (White Ruland) Svatovavrinecke (St. Lawrence), Frankovka.

In Modra (www.modra.sk), situated in the center of the wine region, we pay a visit to the manufacture of traditional and noted Slovak ceramics, known from the 16th century. We`ll observe potters and painters at their work and kilns for firing pottery. Various jugs, vases, clocks, baskets, doses, ring bells, candlesticks, ashtrays, cups, plates, tea and coffee sets, pots, bowls, small ceramics and other produced and sold in the manufacture are mainly glazed in white and lavishly decorated in either blue & black colors, green & black colors or yellow, red, blue, green, lilac and black colors (www.majolika.sk/catalogue.htm). Ceramics from Modra is one of the most demanding souvenirs from the south-west Slovakia.

We finish our trip in the oldest Slovak town Trnava, the seat of archbishop, called thanks to its many churches Slovak Rome (www.trnava.sk - only in Slovak).
